What is pedal kayaking?

Pedal kayaks are the latest in kayaking technology. As the name might imply, we make use of pedals similar to those on a bicycle. By using our legs to pedal and propel ourselves, we are able to move quickly and efficiently while using the larger muscle groups in our lower body. This allows us to travel further and see more than we would using traditional kayaks. Our pedal kayaks can also be converted and used as traditional paddle kayaks as needed. What to expect on a Liquid Blue pedal kayaking tour

While safety and responsible eco-tourism practices are always our first priorities, here are some other things to expect with Liquid Blue...

First hand experiences with native wildlife

There are over 4,000 identified species in Florida, 369 of which are considered endemic (only found in Florida). While there is never a guarantee that we will see a specific species, there is certainly no shortage of unique wildlife for us to witness. Our most popular marine friends are manatees which are typically seen during the warmer spring and summer months.

Small group sizes

We take pride in our small and personal tour group sizes. We only take a maximum of 8 people on each tour to improve the overall experience and to keep things safe. (Generally, other kayak tours in the area will take as many as 15 people per group with 1 tour guide)

Premium equipment and certified guides

Liquid Blue Outfitters is the one and only pedal kayak tour in Sarasota. We use premium equipment from Old Town Kayaks which is one of the oldest modern kayak manufacturers in the country. Our equipment was designed and manufactured by Old Town Kayaks in Old Town, Maine, U.S.A. Our guides have received kayak specific training and are certified by instructors through the American Canoe Association (ACA).
